APN News & Media Limited (APN), in which the Group has a 18.6% share, is the largest newspaper publisher in New Zealand and a leading publishing in Australia. It publishes 20 daily and more than 90 non-daily newspapers across Australia and New Zealand.

APN is a leading regional publisher in Queensland and Northern New South Wales. APN's regional portfolio includes more than 60 newspapers, including The Sunshine Coast Daily and The Queensland Times, and an online regional news network of over 25 websites, reaching over 1 million consumers per week.

APN's portfolio of publishing brands in New Zealand is the market leader in online, newspapers and magazines. The division has a weekly brand audience of 2.6 million people, with the country's best selling daily newspaper, The New Zealand Herald, its sister publication, the Herald on Sunday, the award winning news site nzherald.co.nz, highly read national magazines and popular regional titles.

Online

In the online division, the The New Zealand Herald website is the most popular news website in New Zealand, attracting record traffic and strong advertiser support resulting in improved profitability.

APN continues to expand digital capabilities in existing assets, particularly mobile, video, social, ad product and data analytics, and continues to build a portfolio of high growth new digital ventures, including GrabOne and Catalogue Central Media (CC Media). GrabOne remains New Zealand's leading online daily deals site, with approximately 70% market share, selling more than 2.1 million coupons in 2011. CC Media is Australia's leading online retail performance network. Its INC digital distribution network reaches around 6 million unique viewers per month.

Radio

APN is Australasia's leading radio broadcaster, with investments in 12 metropolitan radio stations in Australia and 120 radio stations in New Zealand.

In Australia, the Australian Radio Network (ARN), broadcasts across five metropolitan markets to over four and a half million people each week. ARN has a dual brand strategy - a MIX and Classic Hits music stream in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. ARN is one of the leading broadcasters in the commercially important 25 – 54 demographics in Australia.

ARN's diverse portfolio of media assets also includes national radio brands, DAB+ digital radio stations, online websites and smartphone apps - ensuring ARN continues to lead the way in multi-platform executions. ARN's smartphone apps were downloaded 690,000 times in 2011, increasing the networks' broadcasting reach through this news channel.

In New Zealand, The Radio Network (TRN) is New Zealand’s market leader for radio advertising solutions. With strong radio and online brands, including top rating Newstalk ZB , Classic Hits , with a popular adult music mix from the 80s, 90s and today, ZM ,with today’s current hit music, and New Zealand’s original rock station Radio Hauraki ,founded as pirate radio 40 years ago. 1.4 million New Zealanders tune in to TRN stations daily, with a steadily increasing audience listening and engaging with their hosts online. The Radio Network has a fully integrated digital portfolio responsible for the digital commercial offerings and content on TRN websites and mobile apps, which are strongly promoted on the radio stations.

Outdoor Advertising

APN Outdoor is the market leader in outdoor advertising in Australasia and New Zealand. In 2011, a joint venture with Quadrant Private Equity was announced. The Outdoor joint venture will incorporate all of APN's wholly-owned Outdoor businesses in Australia and New Zealand, as well as APN's 50% interests in Rainbow Premium Outdoor, in Indonesia. In Hong Kong, APN is the leading billboard provider in the market and the sole contractor for buses on Hong Kong island.
