Executive appointments at Independent Newspapers (IRL) Limited

A Director of Independent Newspapers (Ireland) Limited and Independent Communications Limited, he also represents the newspaper industry on the Board of the Advertising Standards Authority and other advertising bodies.

Joe Webb, BBS ACA has been appointed Group Advertisement Director of the Irish Independent, Evening Herald and Sunday Independent. A graduate of St. Jarlaths College Tuam and the University of Limerick, he joined Independent Newspapers from KPMG as Finance Manager in 1994.

He was appointed Operations Manager of Advertising in 1996 with responsibility for the transition to digital technology and was appointed Deputy Advertisement Director in 1998.

Announcing the new appointments, Managing Director of Independent Newspapers (Ireland) Limited, Gavin O'Reilly said "Brendan McCabe has led the development of advertising in our Abbey Street titles for almost two decades, including the transition into computer technology and the expansion of our colour advertising facilities. He brings a vast breadth of experience of newspapers to his new responsibilities."
