Dr. BJ Hillery
Chairman

Dr. Hillery joined the Board of Independent News & Media PLC in 2003 and was appointed non-executive Chairman in 2004. He is also Chairman of Providence Resources P.l.c and a Director of the Central Bank of Ireland. Dr. Hillery is a Commissioner of the National Pensions Reserve Fund Commission and is Professor Emeritus of the Graduate School of Business, UCD. He was an executive Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, London. He is a former member of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann.

B Braun
Sweden

B Braun joined the Board of Independent News & Media PLC as a non-executive Director on 23 March 2010. He is the Vice Chairman, and former Chief Executive, of Bonnier AB, one of Scandinavia's largest, most integrated and successful media groups. He became an officer in the Naval Academy in 1968. He received both a Bachelor or Law degree at Stockholm University and a Bachelor of Business Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics in 1970. He has held various management positions and has worked in many countries including Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland and the United States at Procter & Gamble 1970-1989. He was President and CEO of Tidnings AB Marieberg from 1989-1998 and President and CEO of Bonnier AB from 1998-2007. He is a member of the Board of Bonnier Holdings AB, Hufvudstaden AB and Hjärnfonden.

L Buckley

L Buckley is a founding Director of Digicel Group Ltd, a Caribbean based telecommunications company. Previously he was involved in the start-up of Esat Telecom Group plc and Esat Digifone Limited and held the position of acting Chief Operating Officer of Esat Telecom during 1996 and 1997. He established his own consultancy business in 1990 and was retained on a number of key public and private sector appointments. These included the restructuring of Waterford Crystal plc, the restructuring and sale of Irish Steel plc, consulting work with Irish Rail and the restructuring of Aer Lingus. He was appointed to the Commission on Nursing by the Irish Minister for Health in 1997. He is currently the Chairman of Saongroup Ltd, Saongroup India Pvt Ltd and Business Recovery Services Ltd and is a Director and shareholder of a number of other Irish companies. He is also a Director of the Irish Medical Organisation Services Ltd and of Aer Lingus Group plc. He was appointed to the Board of Independent News & Media PLC on 13 March 2009.

P Connolly

Since 1991 P Connolly has been Chairman of Connolly Corporate Finance Ltd., a Dublin and New York based corporate finance advisory firm focused on the telecom, media and technology sectors. He was a Director of Esat Telecommunications Limited (Esat Telecom), an Irish telecommunications company, from 1997 to 2000 and is a Director of Digicel Group Limited, a Caribbean based telecommunications company. He was Financial Controller of Hibernia Meats Limited from 1987 through 1991, and prior to that worked with KPMG as an accountant from 1981-1987. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin, Ireland and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland. He was appointed to the Board of Independent News & Media PLC on 13 March 2009.

L Gaffney

L Gaffney is a founding Director of Digicel Group Limited, a Caribbean based telecommunications company. She was Chief Operating Officer at Esat Telecom in Ireland when it was acquired by British Telecom Group plc in January 2000. Her involvement with Esat Telecom spanned six years, during which time she held a number of senior positions. Prior to this she was Managing Director of The Ideas Company. She has also held senior positions with the Irish Press Group plc and Bell Advertising. She is currently Chairperson of Communicorp Group Limited. She was appointed Chairperson of the steering committee of the National Action Plan Against Racism by the Government of Ireland. She is a former Director of Ulster Bank Limited (Irish subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland) and was also a Director of the 2003 Special Olympics World Games. She was appointed to the Board of Independent News & Media PLC on 13 March 2009.

Baroness M Jay
UK

After graduating from Oxford University, Baroness M Jay joined the BBC and began a 20 year career in broadcasting, primarily involved as a producer and journalist in news and current affairs. She was appointed to the House of Lords in 1992 and became a Minister of State in the Department of Health in 1997. She later became Leader of the House of Lords, Lord Privy Seal and Minister for Women. She was a founder Director of The National AIDS Trust and Chair of the independent research organisation, The Overseas Development Institute. She was appointed to the Board of Independent News & Media PLC in 2003 and was appointed Senior Independent Director in 2007.

L Lanz
Germany

L Lanz is Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Axel Springer AG. He studied Business Administration in Stuttgart and Berlin between 1969 and 1974 and completed his course with a Master of Commerce. Initially he worked in Berlin as assistant auditor at a firm of certified public accountants and tax consultants and in 1977 he made the move to Bayerische Hypotheken-und Wechselbank AG, Munich, where he managed a succession of the bank's branches between 1983 and 1990. In 1991, he was elected a Member of the Executive Board at HSB HYPO Service-Bank AG, Munich. In 1996, he was appointed Member of the Executive Board at the trustee savings bank Nassauische Sparkasse in Wiesbaden. In the same year, he moved to ProSieben Media AG (later ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG) as a member of the Executive Board and Chief Financial Officer. He has been a member of the Executive Board at Axel Springer AG since May 2009. He was appointed to the Board of Independent News & Media PLC on 26 November 2009.

B Mulroney
Canada

B Mulroney is a Senior Partner at the Montreal law firm of Ogilvy Renault. He was Prime Minister of Canada from September 1984 until June 1993. He is a Director of several leading companies including Barrick Gold Corporation, Archer Daniels Midland Company and Quebecor World Inc. and other educational and charitable organisations. He was appointed to the Board of Independent News & Media PLC in 2004.

F Murray

F Murray is a Commissioner of the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains. He is Chairman of the Department of Foreign Affairs Appointments Committee and Chairman of the Institute of Public Administration's Education Committee. He is a Director of the Military Heritage of Ireland Trust. He is a former Chairperson of the Public Appointments Service. He is an Independent Reviewer of Complaints for Chartered Accountants Ireland. He was appointed to the Board of Independent News & Media PLC in 2003.
